Part-Time Financial Controller

We are recruiting on behalf of a fast-growing SME seeking an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of the finance function in a hands-on, commercially focused role.
Reporting directly to the CEO (with CFO oversight and support), this is a broad and influential position offering real scope to shape financial processes, support strategic growth, and prepare the business for future audit requirements.
This role would suit an energetic, organised and ambitious finance professional looking for a part-time opportunity within a collaborative, close-knit team.
Part-Time Financial Controller | Bognor Regis | Flexible hours | £65k Pro rata
The Role
Financial Control & Month End
- Preparation of monthly management accounts with commentary and variance analysis
- Board reporting
- Oversight of financial controls and compliance
- Management of outsourced payroll
- Continuous improvement of finance processes and systems
Year-End & Tax
- Day-to-day management of the year-end process and audit preparation
- Liaison with auditors and tax advisers
- Oversight of Corporation Tax, VAT and statutory compliance
- Ensuring compliance with current legislation
Cashflow & Working Capital
- Preparation of rolling 13-week cashflow forecasts
- Oversight of Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Cashflow reporting and proactive credit control oversight
Budgets & Commercial Analysis
- Ownership of annual budgeting and forecasting
- Variance analysis and margin reporting
- Gross margin analysis by project
- Business case analysis for new contracts
Ad Hoc & Strategic Projects
- Supporting key business initiatives as the company grows
- Driving process improvements and financial robustness
About You
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
- Post-qualified experience in a similar SME finance role
- Strong technical accounting knowledge (VAT, tax, compliance)
- Advanced Excel skills
- Comfortable operating as the lead finance professional in a small team
- Financial modelling capability
- Experience preparing a business for audit
- Systems and process improvement exposure
- Commercially aware and data-driven
- Collaborative and confident communicating at senior level
Salary
- £65k Pro Rata
