Management Accountant
Your Consultant
An established and growing organisation based in North Dorset is seeking a Management Accountant to join its finance team.
The Role
This newly created role is ideal for a newly qualified accountant or someone at finalist level with they studies, to step into a broad, hands-on position with real exposure across management accounting, forecasting, and business partnering.
Working closely with senior stakeholders, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting financial performance, improving reporting, and contributing to informed commercial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Management Accounting & Reporting
- Production of end-to-end monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow
- Preparation and posting of accruals, prepayments, journals, and reconciliations
- Ownership of the month-end close process in line with reporting deadlines
Payroll & People Costs
- Support and oversight of monthly payroll processing
- Reconciliation of payroll-related balance sheet accounts
- Liaison with HR and external payroll providers
Analysis & Performance Insight
- Variance analysis against budget and forecast, identifying key trends and drivers
- Clear financial commentary to support non-finance stakeholders
- Cost control and margin analysis to support operational teams
Forecasting & Budgeting
- Preparation and maintenance of P&L and cash flow forecasts
- Support annual budgeting and reforecasting cycles
- Financial modelling and scenario analysis to aid business planning
Cash & Balance Sheet Management
- Monitoring of cash flow, working capital and key balance sheet positions
- Support credit control and cash forecasting activities
- Assistance with audit preparation and statutory reporting when required
Continuous Improvement
- Support improvements to financial controls, reporting, and systems
- Contribute to finance projects as the business continues to grow
Skills & Experience
- Finalist, or newly qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
- Experience producing full management accounts
- Practical experience of payroll processing or payroll accounting
- Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Experience forecasting profit & loss and cash flow
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas and financial models
- Experience with contract or project accounting
- Experience within a services-based or project-driven environment
- Exposure to multi-entity or group structures
- Experience using ERP or finance systems

Salary
- Competitive salary circa £55,000
