Talent Finance are recruiting a Finance Assistant for a growing business that’s looking for someone early in their finance career who wants variety, responsibility and the chance to really develop.
You’ll be working closely with a very supportive Financial Controller who genuinely wants to help you grow and take on more over time. If you’re curious, open-minded and like understanding why things work the way they do, you’ll fit in well here.
The business is evolving, and this role will grow in scope as it does, making it a brilliant opportunity for someone who wants to truly take ownership and make the role their own. It’s ideal for someone who enjoys becoming the specialist in their area and is excited by the idea of building depth and confidence in a core finance role.
Key Responsibilities:
You’ll gain experience across a wide range of accounting tasks, including:
- Preparing regular bank, client and control account reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
- Processing supplier invoices, staff expenses and payments
- Issuing customer invoices and credit notes
- Keeping debtor and creditor balances accurate and up to date
- Assisting with month-end journals, reconciliations, prepayments and accruals
- Providing accurate data to support management reporting
- Reviewing employee expenses and reconciling corporate card transactions
- Helping maintain strong financial controls and supporting year-end and loan book audits
- Ensuring financial data within Xero remains accurate and well maintained
- Working with teams across the business and contributing to small process improvements as the finance function grows
What we are looking for:
- 1–3 years’ experience in a finance or accounting role
- Good understanding of basic accounting and reconciliations
- Experience with Xero, Sage or similar systems
- Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills
- Great attention to detail and accuracy
- Comfortable communicating with people across the business
- Ambitious, curious and keen to keep learning and developing
Salary and Benefits:
- £28,000–£32,000 depending on experience
- 25 days holiday + bank holidays (rising to 30 with length of service)
