Finance Director

Talent Finance have been engaged to appoint an ambitious, commercially minded Finance Director for a fast-growing and forward-thinking business in Poole.

This is a pivotal leadership role is offering the chance to shape long-term strategy, drive commercial performance, and play a key role in the next phase of the company’s evolution.

The OpportunityReporting directly to the CEO, you’ll take full ownership of the finance function, leading a capable team and acting as a trusted strategic partner to the Board. You’ll combine strong financial control with commercial insight, helping to steer decision-making and deliver growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set and deliver the financial strategy to enhance performance, profitability, and long-term resilience.
• Lead all aspects of financial management, including reporting, forecasting, and planning; ensuring robust control and clarity.
• Deliver forward-looking analysis and financial modelling to inform investment, pricing, and contract strategy.
• Partner with the CEO and senior leadership on strategic initiatives, including M&A, capital investment, and new market opportunities.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to achieve operational and strategic excellence.
• Build trusted relationships with external advisors, investors, and key customers.

About YouYou bring a blend of financial depth, strategic vision, and commercial edge — someone who can balance the numbers with the narrative and help drive the business forward.

You will bring:

• A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
• Proven commercial finance experience gained within manufacturing, engineering, FMCG, or distribution-led environments.

Either:

• Experience as a Finance Director within an SME (c. £50m turnover), now ready to step into a broader, more complex business, or
• A senior finance leader from a larger organisation seeking greater autonomy, influence, and direct Board impact.
• Strong technical foundations paired with advanced analytical and financial modelling capability.
• Sharp commercial instincts with the confidence to challenge, influence, and guide decision-making at senior level.
• An empowering and collaborative leadership style, skilled in developing teams and embedding a culture of high performance.
• Strong systems awareness and digital mindset, with high proficiency in Excel and ERP/CRM tools.
